The
‘Kings of Lyon’ are a new and vibrant tribute to the ‘Kings of Leon’.
The Kings of Lyon played their debut gig in February at a venue called,
Rehab in Harrogate. The gig was a huge success, filling the venue to its
capacity, and the enraptured crowd recalled the band for several encores.
The band then played to a sell out crowd at a new 650 capacity music venue
in Hull, the Tower nightclub, earlier in March. The band took four more
subsequent bookings from this night alone for private parties and nightclubs
in Newcastle and Lincolnshire, receiving subsequent bookings for
Universities in Canterbury, East Anglia and nightclubs in Essex and Norfolk.
The band are now attached to several management companies and talent
agencies including; Scott Jordan, Psycho, Henderson Management, Viscount
Entertainment, Tribute Entertainment, Dansatak and Fake Bands (the Kings of
Lyon are now the official Fake Festivals' Kings of Leon tribute for 2010),
and are taking bookings and selling out venues to capacity throughout Europe
and the UK.
The four musicians who make up the kings of Lyon are no stranger to success
in the music industry, having played together for over seven years in
various successful projects. Over the last three years the band has played
throughout the UK in a covers band called, 'The Beards', performing for
various events and functions; weddings, universities, private parties,
ticket only public venues, open air festivals and corporate functions. Yet
as 2008 closed the band had their most successful year so far.
The members of the band also received their first television exposure as
they were crowned 'Global Icon winners 2008'. Global Icon was an online
competition sponsored by ‘Sky Television' which featured thousands of bands
from Europe and gave exposure to the band’s original writing project, 'The
Riffs'. The competition, which was filmed and recorded in Manchester,
has lead to a university tour and the chance to work with the industry’s top
producers; all adding to the band’s wealth of experience.
The Kings of Lyon invented themselves at the beginning of this year and were
extremely confident that this would immediately gain momentum and after the
reaction from their first show it was definitely understandable. What makes
the 'Kings of Lyon' so special is that they have a wealth of experience
though still young; they also have a great sound, which they have worked on
for years, and are fortunate to have the look as well.
The band comes equipped with a
professional sound engineer,
a
range of
P.A systems
and
lighting
to suit any venue. They have their
own transport,
posters and publicity, a website and
studio recordings
along with an exciting 90
minute live set encompassing all the hits and fans’ favourites from the
Kings of Leon’s last four albums.
