The
Bohemians
are an
outstanding
Queen
tribute band
and have
even been
endorsed by
the
‘Official
Queen Fan
Club’. They
were the
first band
to headline
the ‘Queen
Fan Club
Convention'
with an
audience of
2500 people.
The
Bohemians
faithfully
re-create
the glory
days of
Queen from
the opening
few bars of
'We Will
Rock You'
through to
'We are the
Champions'
at the very
end.
Rob Comber -
Freddie
Mercury
Rob
is the
latest
edition to
the band and
has been
fronting the
Bohemians
since 2004.
He has
embraced
Freddie's
flamboyant
stage
persona and
the bands
stage show
now features
an
impressive
array of
Freddie's
costumes.
His
extensive
vocal range
enables the
band to
perform
virtually
all of
Queen's hits
in their
original
keys adding
to the
authenticity
of the
sound. As
well as his
strong vocal
ability, Rob
is also an
accomplished
guitarist
although
this
obviously
doesn't
feature in
the
Bohemians
set with one
song being
the notable
exception.
After
joining the
band, Rob
taught
himself to
play the
piano
specifically
for the
purpose of
performing
all of
Freddie's
piano parts
totally
live. The
spectacle of
him seated
at his baby
grand has
also added
an extra
visual
authenticity
to the show.
The first
song he
learned was
Bohemian
Rhapsody and
he was
featured
explaining
this story
on the award
winning BBC
Radio 4
documentary
'Rhapsody In
Bohemia'.
Nick Ballard
- Brian May
Nick
has been
with the
Bohemians
since 1997
and has an
uncanny
resemblance
to the man
himself and
with his
tall slim
build and
long curly
hair is
often
mistaken for
Brian. He
has 18
guitars in
his
collection
including
two Red
Specials.
Nick has
been a
lifelong
Queen fan
since buying
his first
single
'Seven Seas
of Rhye'
when it was
released in
1974. With
his degree
in art he is
also a
skilled set
designer, an
ability
which has
been very
useful when
making
additions to
the
Bohemians
stage show.
Wayne Bourne
- Roger
Taylor
Since
joining the
band in
1998, Wayne
has provided
the backbone
of the
rhythm
section with
a drumming
style
studiously
similar to
Roger
Taylor, he
also sings
like him to.
Wayne is
also a
talented
guitarist
and
songwriter
and is
constantly
writing and
recording
his own
original
compositions.
Kevin
Goodwin -
John Deacon
Kevin
formed the
band in
1996, his
drive and
determination
have ensured
that The
Bohemians
have
remained
constantly
in demand
ever since.
Kevin didn't
start
playing the
bass guitar
until the
age of 18,
which was
relatively
late but he
soon
mastered his
instrument
and his mazy
runs on the
bass are
heavily
reminiscent
of John
Deacon's
playing
style. This
ability
combined
with Wayne's
drumming
makes for a
totally
authentic
Queen rhythm
section
sound.
